The World Bank in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry organized a workshop on 'Assessing the Investment Climate in Karnataka' on June 21st, 2005 at Bangalore. The workshop provided a forum to discuss and debate the key constraints and challenges facing Karnataka’s private sector, review recent progress made in addressing these constraints, exchange ideas on how best to overcome these problems, and explore ways in which the World Bank Group could partner with Government and business to create a more investor-friendly environment.
Senior government officials and private sector representatives discussed and debated the findings of two recent World Bank Group reports: the India Investment Climate Assessment 2004, and Doing Business Report 2005, with a focus on the findings for Karnataka.
