Conference : 'Fiscal Responsibility and Intergovernmental Finance' - June 22-24, 2005 at Hyderabad

The World Bank in collaboration with the Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad organed a 3 day workshop on 'Fiscal Responsibility and Intergovernmental Finance' from June 22-24, 2005 at Bella Vista Campus, ASCI, Hyderabad

The Inaugural session was attended by Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. C. Rangarajan, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council of the Prime Minister, Dr. Ashok Lahiri, Chief Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Michael F. Carter, Country Director, World Bank India and Dr. S. K. Rao, Director, ASCI, Hyderabad.

The conference :
- Addressed issues relating to fiscal discipline, accountability and inter-governmental finance.
- Provided a forum for officials to share knowledge and facilitate learning on principles & practices of fiscal responsibility legislation.
- Attempted to Build consensus and best practices within the framework of ongoing reforms in fiscal management at the central and state government levels.
