India: Orissa Socio-Economic Development Loan II

WASHINGTON, August 1, 2006 - The following project was approved today by the World

Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

   

IDA CREDIT: US$75 million

TERMS: Grace period = 10 years; Maturity = 35 years

IBRD LOAN: US$150 million

TERMS: Grace period = 5 years; Maturity = 20 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main objective of this project is to support reforms aiming to expand income earning opportunities, especially in agriculture, and improved access to basic services for the poor. Reforms supported by this operation will focus on enhancing agricultural productivity, security of land rights and market access for poor farmers, improving the investment climate and consolidating the fiscal improvement achieved in recent years.
