WBI: Urban Management

WBI's Urban Management program aims to train a new generation of urban managers to better run India's rapidly growing towns and cities. The program directly supports the Government's Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM). The program also comprises a small solid waste component and a disaster management component.

Urban Management

WBI works with a network of local institutions to provide certification courses in Urban Management and Governance to urban managers from across the country. Some 200 urban managers have already graduated from these certificate course and have started implementing modern urban development plans.

Solid Waste Management

The small solid waste program works with the Mysore Institute in Karnataka in developing learning modules on solid waste management for municipal commissioners and officers.

Disaster Management

WBI's disaster management program offers on-line risk management courses for natural disasters, jointly with the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM). These courses target general development practitioners and strengthen analytical skills and professional knowledge in specific areas of disaster risk management, such as financing mechanisms of disaster management systems.
