India: Vocational Training Improvement Project

WASHINGTON, June 5, 2007 - The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA Credit: US$280 million

TERMS:  Grace Period=10years; Maturity=35years

OBJECTIVE: The India Vocational Training Improvement Project is designed to improve quality and relevance of training in 400 eligible Industrial Training Institutes (ITSs), train instructors, and provide incentive funds to reward states for good performance in project implementation. It will also promote systemic reforms and innovations, focusing on activities that lead to enhancement in the overall reach and effectiveness of the vocational training system.
