Abstract
| |
| This resettlement policy has been prepared based on the broad outlines laid down in World Bank policies. Where displacement is unavoidable, those displaced will have their living standards improved. The displaced will be located as a single unit among the peer groups or will be assisted to integrate into their new community. Particular attention will be paid to the needs of the most vulnerable groups. Project affected persons (PAPs) will be compensated at replacement cost for assets lost. Adequate social and physical infrastructure will be provided. PAPs and host communities will be encouraged to participate in designing and implementing this plan. This plan provides mitigation for loss of assets including land and houses or workplaces; loss of livelihood or income opportunities; and collective impacts on groups, such as loss of community assets, common property resources and others. All losses will be compensated and assistance will be provided at replacement value, irrespective of their legal standing in the project area. There will also be compensation for perennial crops and trees, calculated as annual produce value for one season; structures or other non-land assets; and the right to salvage materials from existing structures. In some cases, advance notice will be given to harvest non-perennial crops or compensation given for lost standing crops. Moreover, this plan supports rehabilitation and assistance for lost or diminished livelihood. |
